Sometimes, you just want to count your lucky days. One occured in Atlanta at the Decatur Book Festival when a gaggle of dazzling ladies approached me and asked if I wanted to go to Alabama. With them, I might have left at the moment, but they were asking about February as the trio was representing the Southern Voices Conference in Hoover, Alabama. The Conference, February 18-20 begins with an opening address by author, singer, famous daughter Rosanne Cash and ends with a closing discussion with author (and from personal experience damned funny lady) Emily Giffin. A day long presentation by authors includes Pulitzer Prize winner Elizabeth Strout, Adam Ross, Helen Simonson, Neil White, Susan Rebecca White and some out of place fellow called Batt Humphreys. I mean.. what else are you doing in the middle of February????? Come on down.
